I am an Orton-Gillingham Reading Tutoring, I assess students and conduct Dyslexia screening to gain greater knowledge about each students strengths and weaknesses. I am a l literacy specialist who started Peak Reading in Jackson, WY because I love helping children learn to read, write and spell. I see the importance of providing structured literacy instruction and helping parents navigate the path to reading success.
I am an Associate Level Orton-Gillingham Academy trained tutor, a certified teacher in Wyoming with a Teaching Certificate (K-6), a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Seattle Pacific University, an ESL endorsement (K-12) through the University of Wyoming, and a Degree in Human Development from Boston College. I am also, a facilitaor for LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling), training teachers nationaly. My teaching experience includes working at Red Top Meadows, Jackson Elementary, Journeys School, Colter Elementary, Axis Kids Academy, and privately tutored reading. I currently have eighteen (plus) years of teaching experience.
My work experiences have allowed me to work with students from preschool to high school. These experiences have helped me grow as a teacher in every way. I understand the continuum of learning, I have created custom reading programs for students at every level, and I truly enjoy working with students of all ages. I have been able to build a good rapport with teachers, administrators, parents, and specialists.
I have a great understanding of how to teach phonological awareness, phonics, comprehension, fluency, orthographic mapping, and vocabulary. I have derived much of my expertise through all the research and courses I have taken to constantly improve my private tutoring business solely focused on literacy intervention.
